Canada Permanent Residence Fees Increasing on April 30, 2026

Ottawa, March 27, 2026 — The Government of Canada has announced that permanent residence (PR) application fees will increase effective April 30, 2026. The fee adjustment is intended to maintain timely immigration processing, improve immigration services, and keep pace with inflation and rising application demand.

These changes will apply to all permanent residence applications received on or after April 30, 2026. Applicants planning to apply for Canada PR, Express Entry, Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), or family sponsorship are encouraged to submit their applications before the deadline to avoid higher fees.

Updated Permanent Residence Fees (Effective April 30, 2026)

The updated fees for principal applicants are as follows:

  • Right of Permanent Residence Fee: Increase from $575 to $600 (+$25)
  • Provincial Nominee Program (PNP): Increase from $950 to $990 (+$40)
  • Business Immigration Programs: Increase from $1,810 to $1,895 (+$85)
  • Family Class Sponsorship: Increase from $545 to $570 (+$25)
  • Protected Persons: Increase from $635 to $660 (+$25)
  • Humanitarian and Compassionate Grounds / Public Policy: Increase from $635 to $660 (+$25)
  • Permit Holders Class: Increase from $375 to $390 (+$15)

Why Are Canada PR Fees Increasing?

Under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations, Canada immigration fees are reviewed and adjusted every two years. These updates help the government manage growing immigration demand, improve processing times, and maintain efficient immigration services.

Apply Before April 30, 2026

Applicants planning to apply for Canada permanent residency, Express Entry, PNP, family sponsorship, or business immigration should consider submitting their applications before April 30, 2026 to avoid paying the increased fees.
